I think I'm taking a leap here, I was thinking of organising an OCIP kinda thing as a class trip. Haha I don't know what made me do it, but I was just looking through Habitat for Humanity, http://www.habitat.org.sg and thought of volunteering as a class.

If interested, we can go during our 3 month break (May-July) from uni, guys can maybe take leave from army? :) Anyway, about the project, we can form a youth group of min 10 people to go to any of the listed countries to help build homes for the impoverished. In return, the trip provides us opportunities for bonding, and nostalgic recollection of our Penang Trip together :') If we go to countries like Indonesia or Philippines, we can visit our fellow scholars who are now studying there. It's gonna be a different experience, that's not all about working to help the people there, but we get to sightsee and do other r&r activities too. Orphanage visits can also be added into the itinerary. The trip will be roughly about 7 days. We'll have to do stuff like fundraising for the trip, but Habitat for Humanity can guide us along with that. I think I might be too ambitious, haha, but I'm just thinking of how to fill my holiday time. Like since CJ never do all these CIP stuff alr (not talking about the SMU PEEPS HAH.) aiyah, even though now we don't need it for all those nyaa shit or graduation (not talking about the SMU PEEPS AGAIN HAH), it's always nice to volunteer right? :)

hi guys, in case some of you didnt receive my msg AHEMBERTTAHEM, here are the details of the proposed class outing!

Date: 2nd May, Saturday (CONFIRMED)
Time: 1pm, might be earlier since james has to book in at 5. OK HOW ABOUT 11 O CLOCK. you guys better be on time. 11 ok. until late, possibly? cos david only books out on sat. hahaha.
Venue: Illuma @ Bugis. Since i'm such a nice organiser, i decided to help you guys find out how to get there. extract from a blog: "Went down to the Illuma Shopping Mall at Bugis a week ago, the mall is just opposite the Bugis MRT station as it is within walking distance. The building should not be a problem to spot as the building should ‘illuminate’ as the outside of the building is covered with LED lights :p . Most of the shops are still not open because the mall have not undergone it’s ‘grand openning’. However, there is a cinema on the top floor as well as a decent size arcade with its rather unique arcade games. Most of the games are those Catching Machine Games, Stacker Games, and Video Games. One that I particulary found interesting was this Ice-Cream Catcher Game (next time i have to remember to take a picture lol) that had Magnum and Ben & Jerry Ice-creams in it." and another extract: "The new shopping mall and entertainment centre at Victoria Street. Opposite Bugis Junction." yah, that's the best i can give you, cos our lousy singapore directory is not at all up-to-date with our very cool and happening singapore shopping scene.
Activities: As stated above, there's a really cool arcade. and also heard of the cinema there called Filmgarde, which sells tix for $6 (although i think promotion only until end of april). wolverine, anyone?? :) and best of all, EAT EAT EAT! according to the blog, most of the eateries are alr open. also, catching up, & laughing at botak heads.

A testimony of a boy...

Helu my beloved cls! This is Martin writing his very first blog post. hope it turns out well. =p
This post is about a boy, his prelim exam and his O level exam. The story went something lyk this...

Once upon a time, there was a boy. He studied pretty hard for his prelim exams. The results came out quite fine. However, his summary for his english paper was wrongly marked. words after the 138th word was cut off as exceeding the limit when the limit suppose to be 150 words. out of the 12 words that were wrongly cut off, there was a point that was there which could have given him one more mark. Or at least thats what he believed. He sent it back for re-checking, indicating the error that was made. However, when he got it back, there was a "no error" comment on the top right hand corner. The boy thought, "o well".... When he calculated the final mark, it was terrible. 64.444444444444444444444444444444444444444444. Another sigh from the boy. B4. what to do? So for his L1R5 - 13.

So there, when the boy put his choices for his 1st 3 months JC, He thought to himself, "Alright, its ACJC or SAJC. lovely, respectable Christian schools. CJC is for condemned SJI guys who never study for their Os and use CJC as their netting. All the idiots down there." So he put in the effort to check out ACJC, talk to the vice principal, and agreed with him that if he put ACJC (Arts) 1st choice, followed by ACJC (sci), he would allow the boy to switch over to sciences if his previous results proved clearly he was a science student, which the boy was. Amath A1, Emath A1, Physcis A1, Chemistry A1, Combined Humanities C6, Geography C5. So the boy wasnt afraid. With SAJC in mind too, His choices were 1st - ACJC(arts), 2nd - SAJC(sci), 3rd - ACJC(arts), 4th - CJC(sci)... He really wanted to get to ACJC. It was his dream.

When the postings came out, he was in Cambodia on a mission trip. He checked it out. CJC(sci). "ass-heage-eye-tea" he thought. I must score better for my Os to get out of there. Or i'll just be lyk my seniors, the ones i laughed at. Later on did he realised that his net pts (13-2=11) was just a pt away from entering ACJC (arts). "sway". If only i fought harder for that stupid summary. I must get out after Os results come out.

There he went along, with nothing much he could do but try to enjoy himself as much as he could for his first 3 months. Thats what everybody does right? 1st 3 months is all for play. So he went along. play play play...

After a few days at school, he realised his class was very unique, never like any class he had before. They were EXTREMELY quiet during lessons. they knew when was the time to study, when was the time to play. Bud they were a nice bunch of people.Shy initially, bud slowly opened up across time, some becoming unexpectedly weird. Overall, it was a very well-balanced and unique class. =p

So there, he enjoyed himself during that time. When the O level results came out, L1R5 - 9. There was a reali long thinking process 4 him. Whether to go according to wat he planned, or to stay in CJC. There were a list of reasons, but one of the most significant pts were his cls. To cut the long story short. He chose to stay in CJC with his lovely class called 1t14. =p

Yes, yes. u shld have guessed dat boy is me by now. My main pt of all of this rite, is this:

God is always in control. And he sees things from his super duper macro view. A view knowing the future. And His plan is always the best for u. Most of the time, its the opposite of wad u tink is best 4 urself. So just do ur best for As and leave the rest to God. He'll know exactly wad results are best 4 u. So look to God for strength when in need, for He is always by ur side. Pray to Him.

thank you for a wonderful 2 years in my life. i know we're all going to miss the whole class, but take comfort in the fact that our journey together doesn't stop here. we can continue making new experiences together, continue creating unforgettable memories, because we can. graduation's merely a formal event, a well-written conclusion to close a fantastic chapter. but it also serves as a prelude to a new chapter, another fantastic chapter in our lives. i won't cry because the chapter's over, i'll cry because i've felt every single emotion weaved into the story, i'll cry again when i flip back the pages and relive the story, and i'll cry every single time i do that.

it's not the number of years in your life that matter, but the life in your years.
thank you for bringing THAT life in my years :)

P.S. my heart's always with you all! (provided you all still have it, i better see it in 10 years' time when we meet or at my wedding HARHAR)

The Aftermath of Battle

Over the past few days,
Armies waged war against the outside world.
Amidst the chaos,
Heroes were born.

Nights of uncertainty,
Days spent staring into the unknown.
Not knowing what lay around the corner,
Has it finally come to an end?

As the sun dawns on a new day,
I look on the battlefield in horror.
People lay dying,
Of wounds so indescribable and severe.

In battles,
There are no victors.
Only losers,
Some losing more than others.

In the aftermath,
I could hear people cheering.
While I see those who lay wounded around me,
I too found myself wounded in the fighting.

Today some girls asked me to stop using the F word (i tink it's mich and marie), saying some blah blah blah abt it. Well, i have my reason for using it.

Isn't history more interesting when you know something abt it??

Giving the finger before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French who were anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Rmb to bring ur PTM form if u haven't hand in yet. According to mrs labrooy, she msg me tat " I need it from everyone except the scholars", so i am not sure if those whose parents are not going need to hand in or not, so bring it just in case.....

And abt the board in our class, i was kind of neglect it for a while, but other classes have alrdy done theirs, so i try to get it done tis wk if possible. IF U GOT BLACK A4 PAPER, AND DUN MIND CONTRIBUTING TO THE CLASS, PLS BRING IT ON MONDAY!!! Or else i need to go and buy it using the class funds, which is indirectly using ur $$$ to buy it.... And the girls objected using newspaper, requesting to change it to magazine for the board at the back.... so i ask chris to bring some magazine, and he agreed to use his old soccer magazine, so if anyone not happy abt using soccer magazine to cover the back board, pls voice out ur opinion and come find me 1 on 1, and do so asap... or u can bring other kind of magazine ( computer, playboy,8days etc ) if u wan to....

And abt ur current sitting arrangement, pls dun change around during lessons, just mix around with ppl u hardly talk to, dun always sit with the person u are comfortable with. Tis doesn't promote class unity. We'll change sitting arrangement again at term 2....

hey hey hey! class party last night was G-R-E-A-T! for those who didn't go, basically we ate, played winning eleven and dynasty warriors on ps2, bridge and asshole dai dee! (: and 'thanks' to fifi and mandy for tricking me about the snake skin! LOL. but i didn't get tricked this time (for once)! and also andrew who made me touch the 'snake skin' voluntarily, i'm sure. hahaha. sure the guys had fun thrashing each other at soccer too, especially BERT who practically got thrashed for ALL the games he played? heehee. no need to thank me ally (that's for your under-hand/table move of splashing water at me!) :P had a good laugh with, or rather AT jethro about chu ern and chu er. ahaha! jethro loveesss cycling doesn't he mandy? tsktsk no wonder now knee pain also! haha. eh relax leh, triangle can already, don't need square k? haha. oh! the bertie botts every flavour beans! they were.. yum yum yummy, weren't they? ooh especially the deep red aka earthworm one right andrew? and the pale yellow jelly bean which made jet and mich face turn colour! forgot which flavour that was. and marie, the soap one sooo does not taste like berries! and yes james, the vomit-flavoured tastes nice okay! andrew agrees it tastes like spaghetti too! anyways, though it was just a simple get-together it was loads of fun (:

3rd October 2007 Sports Day (T14 vs T15)

Hello Hello,

I hope everyone is enjoying the extremely LONG LONG Break. I guess we all really need it after studying so hard for PROMOS. So yesterday, we had an interclass sports day organized by T15's Pang Sia Clan (Liselle, Matthias and Clarabelle).

UPDATE:
We played sports like table tennis, badminton, squash, soccer, tennis and couch sports. Before lunch, Clarisse and Mandy decided to carry out there evil plan to push Gabriel into the pool, Ernest and James were asked to help but they were going to be push into the pool too anyway :P Well the plan kinda failed at first but in the end, Gabriel, Mandy and Clarisse ended up all wet. Then random people started getting thrown and pushed in, though a lot of people got wet, we still had loads of FUN and somehow everyone came prepared with extra clothes :) The Lunch Menu included good food to fill our hungry stomachs and prank calls to some people (I shall not say who) After lunch it was mostly couch sports and a little soccer. Like they say all good things have to come to an end but it was fun while it lasted, by 8.00pm most of us went home tired but Happy I hope. Well enough of babbling from me now cause I am quite a bad story teller, so I shall let you all enjoy the pictures.

Deviating from usual posts today. Heck, just for enjoyment. 4 those who watched rockstar... no need to intro this vid... but... you guys prob never watched it :(
So... this is from the show Rockstar INXS (like American Idol but a rock version and it's actually INXS - a band- trying to find a new front person... so an intense audition lasting many weeks) This guy is Marty Casey. I'm a big fan of him and his band the Lovehammers (u guys are prob like huh? now) His performances are WOW!! After u watch his performances, other rock band performances are like... huh, was that rock and roll? Intense!! I don't exactly like Britney Spears' songs but... he changed this iconic pop song into a CHAMPION rock song. ENJOY, i hope.

there are MANY MANY things that deserve a thumbs up!!

1st: well done T14 in all the basketball matches so far! though we won some, and lost some, i guess everyone has to agree somewhat that it's the effort that counts, and it's all in the name of class bonding. a thousand apologises on my part for not being able to go support the class, and not playing the matches. but i hope you all know that i'll always be remembering T14!!

2nd: well done mandy in the gym concert! it was entertaining and the theme was cute!! haha.

Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn't. How is this God good then? Hmm?

Prof: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fella. Is God good? Student :Yes. Prof: Is Satan good?

Student : No.

Prof: Where does Satan come from?

Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don't have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)

Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?

Student : You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light.... But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?

Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?

Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?

Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument is going.)

Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavour, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

(The class is in uproar.)

Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain?

(The class breaks out into laughter.)

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelled it?.....No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

Hi ppl... got impt announcement to all.... Abt the CJC Gymnastics Charity Concert....anyone interested?? I wasn't told much abt the detail by alvan.... i tink it cost $10...to go there see ppl flying around.... then the $$$ collected all go to charity la...ah bu then.... Then i hope u all ppl will go there to support la.... I dun know if Mandy will be participating the event.... but if she does.... the more we shld go there to support her.... Then i need ur reply by monday....coz ticket collection will be on tues.... Sry sia....shld have made the announcement on fri....but totally forgot abt it.....

Then still got more.... THE PAINTING A BIN THINGY....DAMN IMPT.... DIE DIE GO READ EVERYTHING..... so labrooy say liao....we will be doing it on monday, 23/7 from 4 to 6pm.... Hey guys, something my sis found on the internet. It's a cool story that talks about choices. Do take the time to read.

As Nicolas walked down the street of the hillside town where he lived, he was greeted with the same sight he had seen since he was old enough to walk.
The mountain terrain made for a rocky road with many houses stacked next to each other on one side of it. On the other side of the road was a vast meadow.
Plants of every kind could be seen everywhere he looked and the Carpathian Mountains up ahead offered the small town a much welcomed shade from the scorching sun.
Beautiful villa's surrounded Nicolas as he made his way toward a small church, where he knew most of the people would be.
Within a few moments he knew his struggle over the rolling hills had paid off, as he reached his desired location. The church was small with white stone as its only protective layer. It only had one window and a chimney that kept the religious people inside it warm during the harsh winter months.
The window could be easily avoided, not that anyone would notice with the amount of singing going on inside. As Nicolas made his way to the back of the church, he was greeted by five teenage boys. A high pitched voice greeted him as he approached the group. "Hey what took you so long?" his friend Eddy asked. "None of your business" he answered as he lit a cigarette. "These people are never gonna leave" another boy chimed in. "Well then we're just gonna have to make them" the always overconfident Russell answered.
Each boy grabbed his bat and they all looked toward Russell for the signal. Russell was the leader of their group and obviously the strongest; next to him was Nicolas, the brains of the operation. "Ok guys lets see if their religion can save them now" Russell said with a laugh. In a few moments the boys had started running around the church screaming and beating on the doors, walls and window. The people inside ran out frantically, and the boys put their bats to use. They attacked the small crowd aiming to leave a mark. The crowd disappeared in a few moments, everyone running home for safety. "Run bastards, run" Nicolas shouted as he ran after two young boys. "Nick wait, where are you going?" Russell yelled as he caught up with him. "C'mon lets go find something else to do" Eddy shouted out of breath as he ran up to them. "They won't be coming back to church any time soon" another boy chimed in as the group went to find another activity.
Three weeks had passed and the boys were outraged with the church going people. They had been there three times and each time they had chased the frightened crowd off. Each time they had been certain the crowd wouldn't come to church again; each time they had been wrong. Nicolas was curious to find out why the people kept coming back to church. He came earlier and went in while they were praying. The pastor prayed for all poor people and for everyone in the church. The thing that struck a chord with Nicolas was that at the end of the prayer they had prayed for them.
"And God please bless those who come to hurt us and lead them to your path", as the pastor finished up the prayer Nicolas found it impossible to breathe. How could they pray for us, he wondered. His thoughts soon ended as he noticed his friends coming toward him. "Hey you're early for once" Eddy tried to joke. Nicolas slapped him over the head and headed for town. "Where are you going?" Russell ran after him. "I just don't feel like doing this anymore, It's getting old" and with that said he headed away from the church. The boys followed him and went to a bar; but the rest of the afternoon and much of the night he couldn't stop thinking about the people in that church.
Two weeks had gone by and Nicolas still couldn't stop thinking about that prayer. One day he decided that he would go and see what it was like, just out of curiosity. All eyes were on him as he entered the modest building; they were afraid of him and he could feel the tension. He turned back and as he headed for the door he bumped into a boy about his age. "Sorry" the boy murmured. Nicolas couldn't look him in the eyes and tried to make his escape as quickly as possible. The boy seemed to notice this and started making conversation with him. "Hey don't you go to my school?" he asked.
Nicolas looked him over and remembered seeing him somewhere; it must have been school. "Yeah", he answered. Aren't you going to ask me if I'm here to beat you up, Nicolas wondered. The boy as it turned out didn't seem to know this fact at all; he treated him as if they were the best of friends. "Come sit with me" he pulled Nicolas into a chair. Nicolas sat down reluctantly and tried to focus on the sermon, he could feel eyes of everyone on him. He knew that people were afraid of him by the sideways looks they gave him; but no one confronted him about it. The boy, Paul, had turned into a good friend and he found he could associate better with him then he ever could with his other friends.
Nicolas soon found out that he enjoyed going here and meeting with these people on a regular basis; he didn't anticipate that it all came with a price. One afternoon as he was coming from church he met his friends. "Where have you been these past two weeks", Russell asked in a low serious tone. "I've been busy", Nicolas tried to put on a strong show. Out of nowhere Russell jabbed him in the stomach and Nicolas buckled to the ground as all the boys surrounded him. They thrashed his body with kicks and punches until he lost conciseness. As he walked home that evening with many bruises and blood dripping down his forehead, he understood exactly how it felt to suffer for his beliefs. The real trouble awaited him at home.
Slowly, he entered his pathetic excuse for a home, noticing the stains and trash all around both the inside and outside the house. "Where have you been all night?" His father asked in a slurred voice. Nicolas could smell the alcohol on his breath from where he stood at the door and didn't want to go any further. "Nowhere", he answered. "You wouldn't believe what your friends have been saying about you" his father said as he came closer. "They say you're going to some church at the end of town", he was only a few feet away now and the smell of his breath was nauseating. "What do you care?" Nicolas answered back as he tried to make an escape to his room. "You think you're so much better than us, don't you?" Nicolas was too slow as his fathers' fist made contact with his jaw.
Already suffering from bruises Nicolas fell back against the wall behind him. He couldn't take this again and did the only thing he could. He gathered all his strength and pushed the drunken man into a recliner, and then he made a quick escape to his room. He locked the door as quickly as he could and grabbed a backpack and stuffed some clothes in it. His father was busy trying to knock down his door, as Nicolas slipped out the window of his mess of a room.
Nicolas ran as far as his legs could carry him, and realized he had nowhere to go. He knew that his father would get sober and in a few days he would forget all about the matter. The only problem he had now was where to wait out the days. His friends were no longer his friends and wouldn't take him in. He walked half the night and somehow managed to end up at Paul's house; with no other choices he entered through the gate and knocked on the door. Paul's father answered the door with a sleepy look on his face; Nicolas had forgotten how late it was. Surprisingly Paul's father didn't shut the door in his face; he only opened it wider to let Nicolas in. Nicolas reluctantly stepped into the light and he could see a surprised look in Paul's father's eyes, the man said nothing, but turned to another room. Paul and his father returned a few moments later and Paul led Nicolas to the guest room; no one asked any questions. Are willing to stand for what we think is right or do we just follow the 'flow' just for the sake of wanting to be 'relevant' to the people around us?

Are we the ones who give these people (like Nicolas) such a hard time? Trying to impose one's beliefs on someone else forcefully?

today marked the start of the major exams. i know most of us thought it went bad, but dont give up. good luck for your other papers and trust in the Lord. :) he'll answer your prayers and will always be by our sides to guide us. study hard and have faith! :D

To anyone who still needs econs project info this is a summary of the scenario and what you need to do for the project.
Hope it's helpful and it's the info you need.

INTRO:
You have just been elected President of college econs society. You need to fulfill your promise to publish an in-house econs magazine that will serve as enrichment to J1 econs students.

TASK:
1) Go to the library and check out some of the econs magazines and see there value to the students.
2) Brainstorm how your group likes the magazine to be
3) Give your the magazine a name; first issue should have 6 pages.
4) Consider the usefulness of the magazine to the econs students.
5)consider the students preferences, budget, availability of similar magazines, how you get the resources, relevant cost of production, will you be able to obtain funding, etc.
6) How to market and distribute magazine? how to price magazine and how much it is going to be?

OUTCOME:
Produce a prototype of the 6 page magazine and complete the report template for submission.

DEADLINE:
6 July 2007 (Friday) before noon

Assessment Criteria:
1) selection of appropriate economic info
2) presentation and layout, creativity and originality
3) pricing
4) generation and evaluation of ideas

Hmm....as the new HTC of T14...i would like to do my part and talk cock in this blog to make it more alive...and i encourage all t14 ppl to do the same....ok i am doing tis now coz i got nothing to do....and to all those who did cip on wed.... well done guys (even to slackers like david, johan, and christopher).... n i would like to give credit to our martin who help us organize the whole thingy.... i dun know how he do it....but he did it... But one thing i kind of disappointed...is tat i ask ppl dun play cards outside sch in the public with sch shirt then they still play....wtf.... play in class can la...u play with $$$ i oso dun give a shit abt it....but u outside u represent cj leh.... walao....even the place oli got one ahma oso dun do it leh.... ppl see liao might not say anything.... but they might change their opinion abt cj ppl.... u tink ppl stupid izzit?...Then someone go say something to me....like err dun be somebody tat i am not...it's irritating.... i dun know he mean it or not....or just joking around and giving tat serious looks.... but i dun feel good after hearing it.....The thing is i am not trying to act like some good student or teacher and tell u all wad to do....but u all must know when and where to do it......NBCB, need me to go and tell u all meh??
